Step 3: Add Bonus Products

Add a brief overview or the name of the lesson here.

Bonuses are the perfect way to get on-the-fencers to say yes to your new product or course. Providing a complementary resource to help your clients get the most out of your course is almost essential in today’s online education market.

However, don’t fall into the trap of early online learning, where it was the rule to give away upwards of 50 bonuses to bump up the value of the actual course. This number of bonuses does nothing other than confuse the consumer; and let’s face it, 90 percent of those bonuses will sit on a hard drive gathering dust. No one has the time or desire to go through that many bonuses.

Your bonus should be relevant to your product and should be exclusive to your product. If you can find the bonus elsewhere, customers should have to pay for it. Customers should feel as though they’d miss out on something fantastic if they passed up your bonus.

What Type of Bonuses?

The format of your bonus doesn’t matter but the content should be relevant to your new product.  Consider these types of bonuses:

  • A video of your appearance on an online summit.
  • A series of interviews you’ve done with other experts in your industry (audio or video).
  • Worksheets, checklists, or templates related to your product.
  • A series of audio files taken from your top videos so students can listen to you on the go.
  • An eBook that you’ve previously sold. Or transcribe your most popular videos and podcast interviews into a pdf report.

Now that you’ve brainstormed some bonus ideas, let’s talk about WHEN to offer bonuses. These are just ideas; you’re not obligated to use all of them or any of them. Try out one type of bonus on this product and experiment with a different bonus on another product and compare results. Or get ambitious and offer bonuses every step of the way.

Ninja Tip:

Have a start and end date as well as time for each bonus. Those who miss the deadlines can qualify for a different bonus. Just be sure to make the bonus deadlines obvious in your emails and social posts.

  • Early bird bonuses are given to those who buy prior to your official launch date. Consider offering this to your current clients, social media followers, and email subscribers. End this bonus 12-24 hours prior to your launch date.
  • Fast action bonuses are given to those who purchase your product immediately after your webinar or livestream presentation. Consider leaving this bonus open for 1 hour or less to really reward those action takers.
  • Pay in full bonuses are for those customers who pay the full price as opposed to those who opt for a payment plan. This bonus doesn’t need an expiration date as you always want to reward these customers.
  • Cart reopen bonuses are for those who are on the fence about buying your product. It’s a last-ditch effort to win them over, especially if they abandoned their cart before paying. Invest in a remarketing campaign to make that final sales push.

Now is the perfect time to review the content you have currently on your hard drive that you can repurpose as a bonus.

Today's Action:  Add Bonuses

  1. What special bonuses do you want to offer?  This could included limited time offers or fast-action bonuses do you want to offer?
  2. Decide on the specific bonus topic, content type, and when and how you’ll deliver.
  3. Decide who will receive each bonus (aka when they have to purchase to get it or what they have to do to receive it) and when the bonus will expire.
  4. List out bonus(es) details for:
    1. Early bird bonus
    2. Fast action bonus
    3. Pay in full bonus
    4. Cart reopen bonus

Not sure what your next step is? (this headline will change each time based on the products you're offering)

In here you're going to add more product that go with the course.  This could be PLR that will help them or the next course they should look into.  You can also add affiliate offers, but look in your products first.

Also, you can create a buy button from Shopify or create a collection where it adds select products at the bottom here.

You could also add a product image in the columns below and then link to those specific products.  Lots of income potential here.  Don't forget to put the uri parimeters so you can record where the purchases came from.  You want to be able to track it.
